Your GoogleMail with your Gmail account

I was reading forums some days ago then came to know that when we sign up for gmail account, we get 2 mail address from Google.
1. yourmail@gmail.com
2. yourmail@googlemail.com
You can receive mail of on both address, @googlemail.com will be redirected to @gmail.com. You will get mail for both at some accuont.
Try now by sending mail to yourself form other account.

yourmail@google.com is only for their official use.
They are not going to give it to any one.
